Beggar

A beggar in my chest
breaks the vibe in company left
and takes his time, the little pest,
to twist his face into its best
Paint smile gone rambling
Clutching kite strings on ample wind
From the deep sigh drawn haggardly
By this neck deep in anxiety
White knuckle wanderer
An eager soul, timid ponderer
Welling thoughts will cause my sight to blur
Tonight the demon spite will churn
I'm learning slow the ways to know
Myself and spark compassion's glow
Instead of acting passive, so
My speech will match the rapid flow
Which thoughts have filled between my ears
But now I'm listening, let me hear
Your stories fresh, untangled, clear
Provide me sustenance, my dear
Food for thought to chase our cheer
